According to a series of Instagram posts, it appears that Charlton's owner, Tahnoon Nimer, is threatening to pull out of the club over a conflict with Matt Southall - the executive chairman whom he appointed.
Offthepitch.com understands that Matt Southall and director Jonathan Heller have spoken to all staff in person, reassuring them that wages will be paid and financial obligations met. No jobs are under threat, they have been told.
In a rebuttal of allegations of financial misuse, Southall said in a statement on the club's website that he would be meeting with his lawyers to "discuss an action for defamation."
Southall also claimed that Nimer has yet to provide the EFL with the source of his funds, though the league has not confirmed this.
The EFL in a statement on Tuesday confirmed that the January takeover went through without approval of the new owners' funding until June 2021.
